When Meet Directors Meet
Pictured above are three men who collectively have directed 38 of the previous 40 Loucks Games. (From left to right) Nick Panaro (1987-2000), Ed Kehe (1968-1984) and Fred Singleton (since 2001) attended a December 1st retirement celebration for former White Plains athlete and Olympian Larry James, that was held at the Richard Stockton State College in Pomona, New Jersey. All three are also former head coaches of the men's track team at White Plains. Panaro, now the athletic director at WPHS and Singleton, now the men's cross country coach, traveled to the gala celebration along with Ed Zemmel, the women's track coach, driving together from White Plains. Kehe flew to the celebration from his home near Phoenix, Arizona. Mr. Kehe, who was the mastermind behind the Games, gave an inspiring speech, that centered upon James' role on the famed 1966 White Plains team, arguably, the greatest team in the history of New York State track and field.
