2008 Schedule of Events

The Loucks Games is saddened by the loss of 1966 White Plains High School graduate and 1968 Olympic Gold Medallist
G. Larry James.

Larry will be remembered not only as a great runner, but  also as a fan who loved all that is track and field. He was in attendance at the 2006 and 2007 Loucks Games and stood at the podium awarding  trophies and medals to our winners. Many of the tributes to Larry are linked below. Larry, thank you for the thrills and leadership that you have provided over the years. The flame of the Mighty Burner will never be extinguished.

The Loucks Games wants to congratulate our former champion and 1976
White Plains High School graduate,
Art Monk
, on his recent induction into the National Football League Hall of Fame.
Art, a 1976 national champion in the 330 yard hurdles, won the Loucks Games 120 Yard High Hurdles (14.1w), as well as the 330s (38.0) in a 1976 double.
We are very proud!

The Loucks Games wants to congratulate our former double champion, Lashawn Merritt, on his Olympic Gold Medal that he won in Beijing.
His time was 43.75
In 2004, at Loucks, Lashawn won the 100m (10.74) and then set a still-standing meet record of 21.02 in the 200m.
We are very proud!

The Loucks Games wants to congratulate our former champion - and still meet record holder -
Sanya Owolabi, on his recent induction into the Westchester
Sports Hall of Fame.

In 1977 Sanya won his first of three Loucks trophies by winning the Triple jump with a  leap of 51' 11". In 1978 he was a double winner with a Long Jump victory of
24' 10.25"w and a leap in the Triple Jump of
52' 4.5", which is still a  meet record . In 2007, Sanya participated in our 40th Annual reunion
(please see below).

:
All teams that want to participate in the Glenn D. Loucks Games must send an email to the meet director at either  jsingleton@wpcsd.k12.ny.us  or hurdler1970@aol.com declaring the team’s intention to participate.

By April 28, 2009 : For those teams that have met the declaration deadline, all entries are due. After that date DirectAthletics will be instructed not to accept any more entries. All paperwork and payments are due on that date.

Declarations Received
Important: Read the list of standards that appears below.
Do not enter athletes who are not capable of meeting these standards.
Our meet is growing and we do not want to reject athletes - BUT WE WILL IF WE ARE FORCED TO.
Thus, a male athlete who has never run a 1600m faster than 5:15 probably won't drop down to the 4:40 standard.
Please be realistic with your seeds and your imagination.
Payment is due by April 28th. No exceptions.
If you can get the Penn Relays payment on time, you can get ours done too.

Wow, it's almost like having
Cross Country in the Spring!

 Our Meet Standards
We have revised our meet standards to better reflect our clientele.
Please enter those athletes (and only those athletes) who you feel are capable of meeting the following standards. We have a lenient policy, but please don't abuse it. If you think an athlete is close to these marks, he or she should be entered. If you think on his or her best day the mark could be within reach, again, feel free to enter that athlete. If there is no way an athlete could come close to the mark, please...please...please... don't enter him or her.
Teams that abuse this request will be denied future entry into the meet.

White Plains High School
White Plains, New York

"To see more people representing more places,

you'd have to go to the United Nations!"

When entering your athletes make sure you include the names of those athletes who are running relays only.

Due to new regulations from NFHS, each school that wants to participate must send an email that indicates intention to participate. This email must arrive by April 16, 2009. This email should state “_____________ High School intends to send its men’s and/or women’s team to the 2008 Glenn D. Loucks Games.”  We must adhere to this date. For teams that meet this time frame, actual entries are due on  Tuesday April 28, 2009 - SEND THEM OUT BEFORE YOU GO TO THE PENN RELAYS. Updates for entrees will be accepted until 5:00 pm  on Sunday May 3, 2009.
jsingleton@wpcsd.k12.ny.us - if that doesn't work try hurdler1970@aol.com.

Our meet features: top competition, great awards, limited housing in the homes of White Plains residents for our out-of-state guests (very limited) , and a Free Friday night dinner (sponsored by local restaurants) that is open to all athletes, coaches and officials.

Key Dates:

April 16, 2009: All teams that want to participate in the Glenn D. Loucks Games must send an email to the meet director jsingleton@wpcsd.k12.ny.us stating the team’s intention to participate.
April 28, 2009 : For those teams that have met the deadline, all entries are due. No entries will be accepted after that date.
May 3, 2009 at 5:00 PM: Updates for entries end.
May 4, 2009: seeding meeting.

Our new format allows teams with loyalties to another meet  to have their 100m, 800m and 3200m athletes participate at our meet. Special Attention: With the 800m and 3200m being held on Friday, there could be some interesting possibilities for a 1600m showdown on Saturday.
